Cross-Border Volleyball is here!

The Belgian Volleyball Liga and the Coöperatie Eredivisie Volleybal Nederland (CEVN), in consultation and agreement with both national federations Nevobo and Volley Belgium, have announced a new initiative: the BeNe Conference as a new competition and the BeNe Cup as a once a year event.

These competitions will mark a new era in volleyball in both Belgium and The Netherlands. After extensive research during the period from November 2022 to March 2024, it was decided to start with the BeNe Conference in the 2024/2025 season.

The BeNe Conference will start in February 2025, with the final standings of this competition determining placement for the BeNe Cup '25 later that year. The league format includes two national competitions at the beginning of the season (Sept-Feb), with the top 4 from each country meeting in the BeNe Conference (Feb-April). These 8 clubs will play crossborder both home and away against each other, culminating in the crowning of the BeNe Conference champion. The remaining teams, outside the top 4, will compete in the national second stage (challenge pool). Then the well-known playoffs will be played in both countries.

The new league and cup event are seen as opportunities to give the sport a powerful boost, while intensive cooperation between the leagues creates an expanded border-crossing market.
